Hi! I’m Zee.
I come back to this quote often —
"Research changes design;
design changes behaviour;
behaviour changes the world."
- George & Sarah Cantor Aye, Greater Good Studio
I have 15 years' experience in user-centric strategy, research and the arts.
This unusual blend of skill-sets means I am adept at grappling with complex problems, as well as finding inventive solutions to them.
I’m also great at guiding teams to shape product strategy using research.
Before pivoting into UX, I had 11 years' experience as a design strategist for omnichannel retail clients such as Dell, SK-II, Asian Paints and Shell. As a design strategist, I worked closely with clients as well as graphic and spatial designers to create retail experiences that centred the shopper.
Outside of UX, I am also a theatre-maker and communications coach.
I act, write and dramaturg in professional theatre. Theatre, like UX, is a team sport that requires you to think on your feet, rapidly iterate and prototype with others, and work seamlessly with diverse disciplines to create a single unified product. After years of theatre-making, I've applied that spirit of agility, resilience and collaboration to my UX work.
As a communications coach, I worked with mid- and senior-level management at blue-chip companies to improve how they approach difficult conversations, procurement negotiations and Diversity and Inclusion practices. This coaching has a focus on role playing and practice-based learning.
In my own teams, I am passionate about creating a culture of care, inclusion and empathy, as I believe this is how we will produce our best work, while making work more meaningful for our selves.
